Steve Wiggins joined EW in 2007 and is an Operating Partner.
Mr. Wiggins has over 30 years of experience launching and managing companies in multiple sectors of healthcare, including healthcare services, health insurance, specialty pharmaceuticals, medical technology and healthcare information technology.
Mr. Wiggins leads EW’s investment practice in technology-enabled healthcare services and healthcare information technology. He has served on the Board of Directors of EW growth equity portfolio companies Ika Systems, Millennium Pharmacy, and Touchstone Medical. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of EW portfolio company Cota Healthcare.
Prior to joining EW, Mr. Wiggins founded Oxford Health Plans and served for 14 years as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. Under his leadership, Oxford grew to over $5 billion in annual revenue and ranked among the 300 largest U.S. corporations. He was also the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HealthMarket, Inc., an insurance company which gave birth to innovative Consumer Driven Health Plans and grew to over $150 million in revenue before being acquired by UICI. He co-founded Health Partners, Inc. in 1993, a physician practice management company that grew to $140 million in annual revenue before it was sold. He was also a co-Founder of Intelliclaim, Inc., which provided claim auditing and productivity software and services to over twenty health insurance companies before it was sold to McKesson. Most recently, Mr. Wiggins co-founded and has served as Chairman of the Board of Remedy Systems, a leading company in the rapidly growing field of bundled-payment systems.
Mr. Wiggins holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Macalester College and a Master in Business Administration from Harvard University.
