Healthcare Brands International, Ltd

Leading supplier of OTC pharmaceuticals in the Nordic region

Healthcare Brands International was an OTC (over the counter) pharmaceuticals company, founded by Barry Clare, to develop the international potential of local OTC brands. In 2007 the company acquired Antula AB, a leading independent OTC company with a broad portfolio of brands for the Nordic region. The Nordic OTC market in the late 2000s underwent substantial deregulation, enabling the company to grow rapidly. The company’s lead product, a medicated mouthwash called SB-12, grew into a market leading brand with substantial international roll out potential. The company was acquired by Meda AB in 2011 for $288 million.
